Focus on painting the walls
The wall is one of the elements that are first seen in a home. Its color is therefore determining for the visual effect. For this, light colors are preferred. They reflect the light and thus offer a more airy appearance to the room.
On the other hand, dark colors give the impression of firming up the space. Among the most common light colors, you can use white, gray, but also pastel varieties. You should also not hesitate to paint the walls with vibrant colors, it depends on everyone's preference. Light colors are suitable for small apartments.
Prefer verticality
Verticality really saves space. It concerns furniture and decor. Furniture is most often the main reason for clutter in an apartment. Already, you have to eliminate the various small pieces of furniture, and choosing multifunctional ones is not enough.
Instead of installing furniture here and there, it is better to place it in a vertical position. In addition, the height gives a slender effect. A floor-to-ceiling bookcase can, for example, serve as a partition. It is not only less bulky, but also preserves the privacy of each space it separates.
Hide storage furniture
From the living room to the toilet, storage is essential. They are wide and hide a large part of a wall. In order to enlarge the apartment, storage must be hidden in the walls. The color of the two must be in harmony. If the wall is white, it is better to opt for storage that blends into this color.
The best is even to order custom decorations. These are almost invisible and easily adapt to the available space.
Light the apartment sufficiently
Lighting plays a crucial role in making an apartment appear spacious. If it is difficult to have natural light, lighting fixtures remain the best solution. Light fixtures hanging from the ceiling mark the area of a room. Dark corners should be lit using table or wall lamps.
To optimize this light, large mirrors are excellent. In addition, they give depth to the room. It should also not be overused to avoid the multiplication of reflections between these glasses.
Eliminate walls
It is sometimes necessary to eliminate a partition to gain m². For example, it seems entirely possible to break down the separation between the kitchen and the living room or that between the living room and the bedroom. It is then to be replaced by a more functional wall such as a library. Or even transform it into a mid-height distribution that can be used as a work surface.
Obviously, this operation is only feasible if you hold abusive ownership of the property. In addition, the intervention of a renovation professional is recommended.
